I was up all night
Holding my pillow in fright
There in the middle of my doom
I saw an angel walk into my room
She took me down to the edge of the dock
And I wanted to follow her where she walked
She said, Cross over and you will not drown
For it's only your troubles that weigh you down

Jesus walked on the water
And Moses opened the sea
The current can swallow you under
But it won't crash over me
So I will leave this ball and chain
They have broken my spirit and left me lame
Here by the shore I will lay them down
On the other side I will be found
For now I see that the coast is clear
But I cannot say I know what has brought me here
Despite the curse of the undertow
Still I think I see a path I can follow
Here I stand at the edge of the water
And I am ready for the storm
I may be close to going under
But I won't stay clinging to the shore
